From The Builder
Aldersgate has chosen Savage Saint to design and build The Ranch at Aldersgate. Darrin St. Ama, owner of Savage Saint, has completed some other projects for Aldersgate in the past including our entry gates and we just felt like he had the ability, the creativity, and the passion to really give our residents a living environment that they truly deserve. Listen to what Darrin has to say about The Ranch at Aldersgate:
"I always try to keep an open mind when designing. I am inspired by things I see and hear when visiting with people about their own ideas. With the Ranch at Aldersgate, it didn’t take long to see the project completely after visiting with Michelle about her idea of an independent living facility. Her passion for what she does and the love she shows for the people in her care, inspired the complete design.
It was important to design the apartments with high ceilings and open air feeling with lots of natural light. The apartments face into an open air courtyard with an organic edge sidewalk, meandering thru the center like a natural creek. The roof above is open with only the steel beams joining the two buildings. At night, The open roof reveals the night sky and can be seen from every room in the apartments. Hi Bay LED light fixtures light the courtyard for evening conversation and gatherings of the residents.
The main architectural design has an industrial flare to keep the style clean and modern to discourage clutter. With Knotty Alder cabinets to soften and warm the feel of the interior. The natural grey concrete floors are sealed only and the ceilings painted flat black. The walls colored with shades of grey creating a blank canvas for the residents to decorate with their own ideas of art and color. The exterior metal siding of black and rustic red create a dramatic presence on the sloping meadow that faces the western sunset.
The Ranch at Aldersgate symbolizes the independence of hardworking individuals that deserve to live in a safe, beautiful home with an outdoor space that encourages a neighborhood feel."
